Papaya scientifically known as Carica papaya is a tropical fruit tree that is believed to be native to Southern Mexico and Central America. Papaya can vary in many different sizes and shapes. There are some varieties that are long with red flesh and others that are round with yellow/orange flesh. The overall flavor of a Papaya is sweet with a musky tang. The fruit has a high water content with a juicy, melt in your mouth texture.

Papaya is shipped unripe, however may arrive ripe upon delivery. It is ready to eat when soft to the touch. When ripe, cut fruit in half and scoop out edible pulp.
