Cacao, is scientifically known as Theobroma Cacao. It is native to the tropical regions of South America. The Cacao we source is from Ecuador, specifically because of its fleshy and flavorful pulp. The cacao pod contains many beans that are surrounded by a delicious white pulp. It is used to make juices and jellies. The seed is fermented and ground as the main ingredient in chocolate.

Definitely not for me

I was so excited to try this fruit, but it definitely wasn’t for me. I found it tasted like slimey, rotting bananas. It most certainly was not my cup of tea!

Weird but tasty!

These are so interesting! They have a very squishy, jelly texture and are super sweet and sour and delicious. There’s not much fruit pulp on the outside of each bean, and they are kind of tricky to eat, but there was a bunch of them inside so it was still worth it. Even the dark little bitter cocoa beans were pretty tasty. Not my absolute favorite, but this was a pretty cool purchase!
