Spondias purpura, commonly known as Hog Plum, Jocote, or Ciruela is a unique fruit native to the tropical regions of South America. Ciruela has a thin, waxy, smooth skin that is red or yellow (depending on the variety) when ready to eat. When ripe, the flesh of the fruit is yellow and sweet, reminiscent of a mix of mango and citrus. This fruit can also be consumed green. The underripe fruit Hog Plum is mouth- puckeringly tart, most people will enjoy it this way with a dash of salt.

 This fruit is shipped when green yet mature. They may ripen during transit or after delivery.

Ripening Guide:

Ciruelas are shipped mature and unripe, however may arrive ripe upon delivery. The fruit is ready to eat when the skin is completely red or yellow. and soft to the touch. May also be consumed green/underripe.  The pulp and skin of the fruit is edible, compost the seed.
